Siddharth Mehrotra

I am a PhD candidate at the Interactive Intelligence group at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft),  the Netherlands, working with my advisor Dr. Myrthe Tielman and promotor Prof. Catholijn Jonker.  Prior to joining PhD, I completed my Masters in Media Informatics from RWTH Aachen University, Germany, working with my advisors Prof. Jan Borchers and Prof. Marianna Obrist (UCL, London).
My research interests are at the intersection of Human Computer Interaction, Artificial Intelligence, and Computational Social Science, and their application in domains such as AI enabled personal assistance and policymaking.  In my PhD, my main focus is on trust modelling.  I am building AI agents that can guide humans to appropriately trust AI and augment human agency.  To do this, I am combine a formal and a social lens with human-centered design, values and norms to study trust modelling.

My master's program and master thesis research were generously supported by Dr. Jost Henkel Stiftung Scholarship from Henkel and Deutschlandstipendium from RWTH Education fund. I have also worked with industry collaborators during internships at Siemens Research, Mazda, and Grohe such as VeeraVenkata (Vijay) Atmakuri (Siemens), Tim Merforth (Mazda), and Markus Ehehalt (Grohe).

Modelling Trust (ongoing PhD research)

This project contributes to the development of AI systems that seek a holistic view of fostering appropriate trust in human-AI interaction. This project combines a formal and a social lens with human-centered design to study trust modelling.

Smell & Social Interactions (Master Thesis) 🥇

This project investigated the effect of controlled scent release from an olfactory designed wearable on the quality of communication and social engagement in a collaborative task.
